Introduction to Mentorship: Foundations for Effective Mentoring

Mentorship plays a crucial role in supporting professional growth, enhancing skills, and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment, especially in early childhood education. “Introduction to Mentorship: Foundations for Effective Mentoring” is a hands-on workshop designed to introduce early childhood educators to the essential principles of mentorship and provide the tools needed to become effective mentors in their classrooms or organizations.

In this workshop, participants will explore the key elements of successful mentoring, including communication, active listening, goal setting, and providing constructive feedback. We will examine how effective mentoring contributes to the development of both mentors and mentees, and how it builds stronger, more supportive educational environments

Designed for mentors with 0-2 years of mentoring experience.

Perception checking: The power of “OR”

Communication is at the heart of every relationship, whether it's with children, colleagues, or families. But how often do we jump to conclusions or make assumptions about what others think or feel? In the fast-paced world, understanding and connecting with others can be challenging—especially when communication is unclear. "Perception Checking: The Power of 'Or'" is a dynamic workshop designed to equip you with practical tools to enhance your communication skills and build stronger, more empathetic connections.

So much to document, so little time: The effective use of pedagogical documentation

With the demands of a busy classroom, the process of documenting can often feel overwhelming and time-consuming. "So Much to Document, So Little Time: The Effective Use of Pedagogical Documentation" is a practical workshop designed to help educators streamline and enhance their documentation practices, ensuring that it supports their teaching without becoming a burden.

In this session, participants will explore the principles and benefits of pedagogical documentation, learning how to document children’s learning in ways that are meaningful, manageable, and impactful.

Educators will discover how to make documentation work for them! Not only as a record of progress, but also as a tool for reflection, assessment, and curriculum planning.

Advanced Mentorship: Skills and Strategies for Effective Mentoring

Building on the foundational principles of mentorship, “Advanced Mentorship: Skills and Strategies for Effective Mentoring” is designed for educators who are ready to deepen their mentoring practices and elevate their impact.

Participants will learn how to address complex mentoring challenges, navigate difficult conversations, and support the development of mentees through tailored strategies that respond to individual needs. We’ll also dive into the importance of fostering autonomy, building long-term professional relationships, and creating a mentoring culture that encourages continuous learning and collaboration.

Through case studies, role-playing, and group discussions, this workshop will equip mentors with the tools needed to engage in transformative, high-impact mentoring that not only supports the mentee’s development but also contributes to the success of the broader educational community.

Expanding Your Toolbox for Challenging Behaviours

Are your old strategies no longer working? "Expanding Your Toolbox for Challenging Behaviours" is an engaging and hands-on workshop designed to introduce educators to a variety of innovative strategies and tools to support children in managing strong emotions and difficult behaviours.

From sensory-based activities like screaming jars to physical outlets such as punching pillows, this session will explore a wide range of techniques that provide children with healthy ways to express frustration, anger, or anxiety. Participants will learn how to incorporate these tools into their classrooms to help children develop self-regulation skills, emotional awareness, and positive coping mechanisms.

Through interactive demonstrations and group discussions, you’ll discover how to adapt these techniques to fit the unique needs of your students and create a classroom environment where challenging behaviours are met with calm, understanding, and proactive solutions.

Looking in a Mirror: Patterns, Cycles and Bias Oh My

When it comes to being truly reflective, what is the best way to do it and how? This workshop will focus on reflective practice tools and strategies to help us look in the mirror and uncover some hidden why's. Why did the child respond how they did? Why did I feel the way I did about a situation? Why can't I let it go? and much more. Digging into these areas can be uncomfortable, but that is where the most growth happens.

This will be a safe space to begin that journey of meaningful and genuine reflective practice that results in more inclusive spaces.

Uncovering the Value in Effective Reflective Practice

Reflective practice is a cornerstone of professional growth in early childhood education. But what makes it truly effective? “Uncovering the Value in Effective Reflective Practice” is a comprehensive workshop designed to help early childhood educators dive deeper into the purpose and impact of reflection on their practice. This session will guide participants through the process of reflecting not just for the sake of reflection, but to gain meaningful insights that lead to more intentional, responsive, and effective teaching.

Self Care: You're doing it wrong

In the demanding world we live in, self-care is often seen as a necessary but elusive goal. However, many struggle to truly implement self-care in a meaningful way. “Self-Care: You’re Doing It Wrong” is a workshop designed to help you reimagine self-care practices and move beyond the conventional advice that may not actually serve their well-being.

This session will challenge the common misconceptions around self-care—such as the idea that it’s only about spa days or taking occasional breaks—and explore more sustainable, realistic approaches. Participants will learn how to incorporate self-care into their daily routines, prioritize their emotional and mental health, and set healthy boundaries to prevent burnout.

Sharing isn’t Caring and other myths we tell behaviours

In early childhood education, we often hear phrases like "sharing is caring", but are these concepts truly in the best interest of young children? "Sharing Isn’t Caring and Other Myths We Tell" is a thought-provoking workshop designed specifically for early childhood educators who want to rethink traditional approaches to social-emotional development, boundaries, and classroom dynamics.
